SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

 Hazelett Corporation is seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our team onsite in Colchester, VT. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to make a direct impact by supporting our people, enhancing our culture, and driving HR excellence across the organization.

The Senior HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting our employees and our operating teams. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, benefits administration, and leading various HR initiatives that improve employee engagement and operational efficiency. This position will interact with employees across all shifts, including 2nd and 3rd as needed for onboarding, benefits discussions, and employee relations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Act as a point of contact for employees, providing guidance on issues such as performance, discipline, and benefits. Mediate conflicts and help create a positive and inclusive work environment. 

Benefits Administration

  • Oversee all employee health and welfare benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, STD, HRA, FSA).

  • Manage enrollments, terminations, and claims, ensuring timely resolution of employee benefit issues.

  • Act as a liaison with insurance carriers and benefit administrators.

  • Support payroll with updates related to employee status changes.

  • Coordinate benefit redesigns, vendor evaluations, and plan renewals.

  • Administer worker compensation claims, maintaining strong communication between employees, healthcare providers, and carriers.

HR Administration & Employee Engagement

  • Maintain accurate personnel and HR records, including compensation, objectives, and performance reviews.

  • Support the HR Manager in revising policies and maintaining the organizational chart.

  • Coordinate employee recognition programs and special events.

  • Administer the manufacturing uniform program.

  • Communicate HR-related information to employees in a clear and engaging manner.

Safety and Workers' Compensation

  • Ensure a strong focus on worker safety, manage workers' compensation claims, and oversee return-to-work processes. 

Training and Development

  • Partner with HR Manager and manufacturing managers to develop and implement training programs for team members and leaders; identify and support employee development initiatives. 

Recruiting & Onboarding

  • Backup the recruiting specialist with full-cycle recruiting — from sourcing and advertising to screening and correspondence.

  • Maintain and update new hire orientation materials.

  • Conduct onboarding sessions and ensure completion of post-orientation paperwork.

  • Meet with new hires across all shifts to ensure a smooth transition into the company.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive HR experience.

  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

  • Strong understanding of benefits administration and HR compliance.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.

  • Proficient with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive — with a commitment to continuous improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a fully onsite role. The Senior HR Generalist will primarily work in an office setting but will occasionally visit the manufacturing floor. Interacting with employees across all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) is a key part of this position to ensure consistent support and engagement.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU

The salary range for this full-time position is $75,000 - $85,000. Your salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
