PRINCIPAL PROCESS ENGINEER

As a Principal Process Engineer, you will have a strong understanding of metal chemistry and metallurgy. A mastery of process variables leading to effective troubleshooting of complex customer concerns. Identifies and drives operational and process development. Guides and mentors developing process engineers and actively works to educate others in the organization.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Provide technical customer support both in person and remotely.

  • Identify, organize, and facilitate the successful implementation of new casters, process improvements, equipment upgrades, caster maintenance and other field service activities.

  • Aid customers with identifying opportunities for improvement and correcting equipment and process issues.

  • Support internal development initiatives as required.

  • Develop technical awareness throughout the Hazelett organization.

  • Maintain Hazelett process know-how by generating manuals, technical papers, and training programs

  • Support sales & marketing efforts for both new and existing customers

  • Recruit, retain, develop, mentor, and motivate a team in support of customers and the ongoing development of new products.

  • Aid the assembly department as required

  • Provide internal guidance for handling non-conforming parts

  • Maintain customer bill of material integrity

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • A minimum of a B.S. Degree in Engineering or the combination of education and relevant work experience.

  • A deep understanding of mechanical systems, machine settings, and operation of casting line equipment.

  • Proficiency with both 2D and 3D CAD systems and the ability to generate design concepts, layouts, and drawings as required.

  • An understanding of electrical components and systems, PLC programming, and troubleshooting casting line equipment.

  • Ability to identify and address product quality issues using a sound comprehension of metallurgy and chemistry.

  • Effectively communicate with customers and colleagues.

  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to allow him/her to coordinate the work of others over whom he/she may have no authority.

  • Innovative and open-minded in the consideration of new solutions to engineering issues and process improvements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

Duties will be carried out at customer and supplier sites, in an office environment, and manufacturing production floor as required, which might include occasional exposure to fumes, noise, and gases from equipment or machinery. They must be able to work in these environments for extended periods of time and be able to do light lifting. The employee must utilize personal safety equipment when working in any production environment. Extensive travel to attend meetings and visit customers is required.

The base pay range for this full-time position is $140,000 – $150,000 Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
