POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Manufacturing Training and Workforce Development Specialist develops and delivers practical training for employees across our manufacturing operations. You will work with managers and technical experts to create training materials, teach employees with different levels of experience, and help strengthen the way we develop skills at Hazelett.

You will also build relationships with schools and training programs, creating opportunities for students to learn about our work and explore manufacturing careers.

This is an onsite position with a regular schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional schedule adjustments are needed to provide training to employees on second and third shifts.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Develop and deliver employee training

  • Create and maintain practical training materials on topics such as safety, applied math, blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing  (GD&T), and Hazelett equipment and processes.

  • Teach employees individually and in groups, adapting your approach to different experience levels and learning needs.

  • Develop quizzes, practical exercises, and other ways to check understanding and identify where additional training is needed.

  • Create presentations, videos, screen recordings, and other resources for our learning management system.

  • Partner with managers and technical experts to identify training needs, keep materials accurate, and coordinate training around production schedules.

  • Gather feedback and recommend improvements to training programs.

Build student and community partnerships

  • Develop relationships with technical centers, high schools, colleges, and other education and workforce programs.

  • Coordinate company tours, job shadows, and other opportunities for students to explore manufacturing careers at Hazelett.

  • Meet with educators to understand their programs and identify ways Hazelett can support student learning.

  • Coordinate Hazelett’s existing donation programs for technical centers and other learning programs.

  • Occasionally attend career fairs and community events to connect with prospective employees and share opportunities at Hazelett.

Requirements

  WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Experience developing and delivering training in a manufacturing environment.

  • The ability to explain technical information clearly and teach people with different backgrounds and learning styles.

  • Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and schedules.

  • An approachable manner, patience, and the ability to provide constructive feedback.

  • Initiative to work independently, research unfamiliar topics, and collaborate with technical experts.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Acrobat. Experience creating videos or using a learning management system is helpful.

  • Sound judgment when handling employee information.

  • Flexibility to occasionally adjust your schedule to work with employees on second and third shifts.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, Training and Development, Education, or a related field is preferred. 

  • At least five years of experience developing or delivering training in a manufacturing environment with a high school diploma or equivalent, or at least three years with a related associate degree. 

  • Experience creating technical training materials and teaching both individuals and groups is preferred.

  • Experience working with schools, technical centers, or workforce development programs is a plus.

The base pay range for this full-time position is $65,000 –$80,000 per year. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
