MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING INTERN
Hazelett Corporation is seeking summer interns for its Manufacturing Engineering Department. Our goal is to match Junior and Senior engineering students with our team for hands-on experience on a designated project over the summer.

Hazelett Corporation is a company that is recognized worldwide for our leading metals processing technology. Our continuous casting process is renowned for its high productivity and energy efficiency. We pride ourselves on our robust machine design and in-house manufacturing and assembly capabilities. The materials produced by our machines are used in many applications such as aluminum automotive body components, aluminum foil, lead-acid automotive batteries, and copper wire and cables.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern is an entry-level position responsible for supporting various aspects of the manufacturing process. This role works closely with manufacturing engineers to assist with production support, process improvement initiatives, and the maintenance of quality standards. The intern will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while contributing to projects aimed at improving efficiency, performance, and overall operations. This is a paid internship.
THE CHALLENGE
We are looking for goal-oriented students who are eager to apply their problem-solving skills to real engineering challenges. This role may include efforts such as:
Assisting in analyzing and improving manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall product quality.
Participating in lean initiatives to identify and assist with executing opportunities for process optimization.
Assisting in evaluating new tools, materials, and technologies to improve manufacturing processes.
Creating and maintaining process documentation and work instructions.
Working on cross-functional teams to support the resolution of production issues and challenges, as well as assisting with the implementation of new processes or improvements.
Assisting with research, testing, and implementation of ongoing engineering projects.
Providing technical assistance and support for ongoing product development and manufacturing challenges.
Assisting in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards for quality control and process safety.
Participating in safety walkthroughs and recommending improvements as necessary.

Basic understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, fabrication, or quality control.
Basic knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks 2024) and technical drawings.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
Previous related internship experience is a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with at least two years of academic progress in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
