FACILITIES TECHNICIAN III

 

Hazelett is a global leader in the design and manufacture of continuous casting equipment, with more than 100 casters operating in 25 countries around the world. Our Vermont facility brings together engineering and manufacturing to build highly specialized equipment for the global metals industry.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Facilities Technician III, you'll perform skilled preventive and corrective maintenance across our production equipment and facility. As a senior technical resource on the Facilities team, you'll independently troubleshoot complex equipment and system issues, develop solutions to unique maintenance challenges, and provide leadership and technical guidance to other team members.
 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Perform advanced preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure.

  • Independently troubleshoot and diagnose complex equipment and system failures and determine appropriate solutions.

  • Complete complex construction, renovation, and facility improvement projects, developing solutions for unique challenges.

  • Inspect, lubricate, service, and maintain equipment to improve reliability and prevent downtime.

  • Maintain company grounds, including mowing, seasonal upkeep, and snow removal.

  • Operate forklifts, tractors, loaders, snowplows, company vehicles, and other facility equipment.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for complex preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.

  • Train and mentor less-experienced Facilities team members.

  • Lead small teams and delegate tasks when responding to complex equipment or system downtime.

  • Identify and communicate equipment, material, and facility concerns to the Facilities Team Lead, providing recommended solutions.

  • Support a safe, clean, and productive manufacturing environment.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • High school diploma, technical school diploma, or equivalent.

  • 10+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, facilities, or a manufacturing environment.

  • Expert-level knowledge of building maintenance, repair techniques, and hand and power tools.

  • Advanced preventive and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting capabilities.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, instructions, and specifications.

  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence and make sound technical decisions based on experience.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate facility vehicles and equipment.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and regularly climb, kneel, bend, reach, and work at heights above 20 feet using ladders and lifts.

  • Willingness to work overtime and participate in on-call coverage as needed, particularly during winter months.

The hourly pay range for this full-time position is $29 - $36. Your hourly pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
