FACILITIES TECHNICIAN

 

The successful Facilities Technician performs maintenance tasks to support the entire facility.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Detects and reports defective materials or maintenance issues to the Manager - Facilities.

Performs assigned preventative maintenance on machinery, buildings, and grounds as required.

Maintains the assigned work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Has a working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, masonry, machine repair, plant layout, painting, and janitorial duties and uses hand and power tools common to these skills.

Reads and interprets drawings, sketches, instructions, and specifications.

Is comfortable working as a member of a team.

Uses good judgment in performing tasks and follows all safety procedures.

Is able to do heavy lifting and a considerable amount of equipment moving.

Is able to drive a forklift.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

A high school and/or technical school education with three years of maintenance-related experience in a manufacturing environment.

CONTACTS (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL): 

Interacts with all employees within the company and has minimal contact with outside vendors.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The Facilities Technician works in all areas of the company including office environments and the manufacturing shop floor and is exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise.  Personal safety equipment must be utilized when working on the production floor.  A considerable amount of outdoor work is required.
