FABRICATOR/WELDER - FIRST SHIFT

 

The successful Fabricator/Welder is responsible for fitting and welding various metals for production of strip-casting machines while using a MIG and/or TIG process.  First Shift full-time position:  10 hour days / 4 days per week; 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with additional hours as required.  Monday – Thursday or Tuesday – Friday.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Set up welding machines based on the job requirement.

  • Work from prints, drawings, and verbal instructions.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements

  • MIG and TIG weld steel, aluminum and other components based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings

  • Performs related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, and notching of metal parts

  • Performs standard layouts and set-ups of dimensions and tolerances

  • Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards

  • Follow, create, and help maintain welding procedure specifications

  • Provide a great level of attention and detail and focus on the given task

  • Keep work area clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment

  • Follow company rules and policies

  • Uphold all ISO and OSHA standards applicable to the above responsibilities

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

The range of projects is typical of a custom weld shop.  Our position requires an individual with a level of welding knowledge and skill in:'

  • Steel, stainless steel, aluminum

  • MIG, TIG, and Stick

  • Print interpretation and shop math

  • Ability to identify and measure material

  • Ability to consistently produce quality products

  • Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs and uses

  • Ability to perform simple shop math - convert decimals to fractional equivalents and fractions to decimal equivalents

  • Must be reliable with a strong work ethic

 EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

  •  Associates degree or equivalent from a 2 year technical school or 1 to 2 years related experience 

  • May need to meet certifications in a specialized area.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The vision requirements include: close vision and ability to adjust focus. The duties of the Fabricator/Welder will be carried out in the production area with exposure to fumes, noise, and gases from equipment or machinery.  Safety glasses, safety shoes, and other required equipment must be used in the production area.
