DIRECTOR, MANUFACTURING

As the Director of Manufacturing, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing operations to ensure the production of the company’s products to the highest quality in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner. This role provides strategic leadership, drives continuous improvement initiatives, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes a culture of operational excellence across all production areas.

What you will do:

  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies aligned with company goals for safety, productivity, quality, cost control, and delivery timelines.

  • Formulate production plans and schedules by identifying and considering customer needs; human, financial and capital resources; safety factors; quality management system goals and objectives; and Lean Manufacturing principles.

  • Lead and manage manufacturing factory operations throughout the company, ensuring the safe and optimal use of resources, equipment, and labor.

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of manufacturing processes to meet demand forecasts.

  • Establish performance objectives for key metrics for manufacturing performance and drive accountability for achieving targets.

  • Implement LEAN manufacturing principles, Six Sigma practices, and continuous improvement methodologies to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and R&D teams to support product development and process optimization.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), environmental requirements, and company policies.

  • Lead, coach, and develop manufacturing leaders and teams to foster a high-performance culture based on accountability and empowerment.

  • Prepare and manage budgets, capital expenditures, and resource planning for manufacturing functions.

  • Identify, evaluate, and deploy new technologies to enhance manufacturing capabilities and scalability.

  • Provide leadership to functional managers, team leaders, and additional manufacturing personnel by maintaining a focus on hiring, communication, training, development, improved interpersonal relationships, conflict resolution, and team dynamics.

  • Identify, communicate, and lead the analysis, consideration, and implementation of capital investments and improvement projects.

What you will need:

Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (required), master’s degree or MBA (preferred).10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven track record of leading CNC machining, large-scale complex assembly and/or other related manufacturing operations. Experience with LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP/MRP systems. Ability to attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent. Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills. A demonstrated ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve significant results. The ability to conduct long-term (12 to 24-month) strategic planning. The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. The ability to analyze and resolve problems at both strategic and tactical levels. Excellent delegation and work management skills. Relevant technical skills and experience. Strong customer orientation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. The ability to negotiate and gain commitment at all levels within Hazelett.

Strong professional ethics, practical and logical judgment, and decisiveness while being action oriented. Demonstrated self-motivation. Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking financial acumen and experience managing large budgets and capital projects. Ability to manage change and lead transformation initiatives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

Duties will be carried out in an office environment, manufacturing production floor, and at customer and supplier sites as required, which might include occasional exposure to fumes, noise, and gases from equipment or machinery.  The employee must utilize personal safety equipment when working on the production floor.  Travel to attend meetings and visit customers is required.
