The successful Mechanical Designer conceives and develops design concepts into tangible, workable, and manufacturable detailed designs for their intended functions. Thoroughness and clear, organized work habits are essential.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes both 2D and 3D CAD systems to generate design concepts, layouts, and assembly drawings with minimal supervision.
Researches and coordinates the implementation of Engineering Change Orders/Requests.
Coordinates interaction with suppliers on component specifications and selection.
Develops and directs testing of design concepts as necessary to validate the design.
Skillfully diagnoses and addresses product problems in prototyping, production and in the field.
Knowledge of geometric tolerancing, standard design conventions, and machine design.
Knowledge of structures, materials, joining, rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, and load/stress analysis.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, capabilities, and procedures.
Proficiency in the use of SolidWorks.
Personal computer and writing skills for analysis, reporting, and day-to-day correspondence.
Ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of an A.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or the combination of education and work experience.
