MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
The successful Mechanical Design Engineer conceives and develops design concepts into tangible, workable, and manufacturable detailed designs for their intended functions. Will be required to review the work of others for both safety and accuracy. Thoroughness and clear, organized work habits are essential.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize both 2D and 3D CAD systems to generate design concepts, layouts, and assembly drawings with minimal supervision.
Creation and maintenance of engineering specifications and bill of materials.
Research and coordinate the implementation of Engineering Change Orders.
Coordinate interaction with suppliers on component specifications and selection.
Develop and direct testing of design concepts as necessary to validate the design.
Skillfully diagnose and address product problems in prototyping, production, and in the field.
Commissioning and servicing casting equipment in the field.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge of geometric tolerancing, standard design conventions, and machine design.
Knowledge of structures, materials, joining, rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, and load/stress analysis.
Knowledge of heat transfer, electrical controls systems, industrial plant design, as well as a thorough understanding of relevant manufacturing methods and process capabilities.
Proficiency in the use of SolidWorks.
Personal computer and writing skills for analysis, reporting, and day-to-day correspondence.
Ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the combination of education and relevant work experience.
