ACCOUNTING CLERK - PART TIME

Hazelett Corporation located in Colchester, VT is a global leader in the design and manufacture of continuous casting machines.

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to provide accounting and clerical support in our Finance Department; maintaining accounting document files, primarily accounts payable processing. 

This position is scheduled to work 20 hours per week (Monday – Friday) Flexible Schedule.  This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.

Match purchase orders to invoices and enter into ERP System.

Pay vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, scheduling and preparing checks.

Respond to all vendor inquiries, reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies.

Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately.

File payment vouchers and maintain paid invoice files, and vendor records.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

 Excellent office skills with a general understanding of accounting concepts and terminology, particularly in the functional area of accounts payable.

Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and computerized accounting programs.

Detail oriented and accurate.

Has the motivation, desire, and ability to work as a team member.

A thorough knowledge of office procedures, practices, and formats for financial business correspondence is required.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE:

An Associate's Degree in an appropriate discipline with two years of accounting experience or the equivalent combination of education coursework and experience.
